Body mass Index (BMI) calculator
Does your weight match up with your height?
Body mass Index (BMI) is an internationally recognized index uses an individual's body weight (in kilograms) and height (in metres) to determine his or her risk of obesity. The calculation of BMI is done as followings:

BMI = weight (kg)/height (m) x height (m)

BMI values apply to both men and women, regardless of their age, frame size, or muscle mass. Since muscle weighs more than fat, the BMI calculator may have limitations with regard to athletic or muscular individuals. Calculating body mass index requires only two measurements, which are the height and weight.

Waist-to-hip ratio
Waist-to-hip ratio has best used to look at the fat distribution of the body. Depending on the region where the fat predominates, either it is on the waist or on the hip, the risk for heart disease, hypertension, diabetes or strokes can be predicted.

To determine if you have a healthy waist to hip ratio, use a measuring tape to measure the circumference of your hips at the widest part of your buttocks. Then measure your waist at the smaller circumference of your natural waist, usually just above the belly button.

How much water do you need in a day?
Water is an important structural component for human being, every part of body is dependent on water. Our body comprises about 75% water: the brain has 85%, blood is 90%, muscles are 75%, kidney is 82% and bones are 22% water.

The average adult loses about 2.5 litres water daily through perspiration, elimination and breathing. If our body is not sufficiently hydrated, the cells will draw water from our blood stream, which will make our heart to work harder. This will affect the function of other organs in our body as well.
